Leeds schoolboy wins National Christmas card competition

Sam Reid, an eight year old from Wigton Moor Primary School in Leeds, has been announced as the winner of the Leeds Building Society National Christmas card competition. As the national winner Sam receives £50 in High Street vouchers, and his card is being used as Leeds Building Society's Corporate Christmas card.

Shannon Hanbury, Manager at the Street Lane branch of Leeds Building Society, went to Sam's school assembly to present him with a framed version of his winning entry. The school's Head teacher, Julia Norton, was also presented with a £500 cheque for school funds.

Shannon said, "It was a lovely morning when I went to the school assembly at Wigton Moor Primary School to present Sam with his framed winning Christmas card. He was so excited and there was a wonderful atmosphere in the school.

"This competition offered schoolchildren a terrific incentive to win a high profile and prestigious competition. Our official Christmas card is sent out to all our key business, charity and community contacts throughout the UK.

"This competition was popular and of a very high standard. Our judges had a difficult time in picking a winner, but they thoroughly enjoyed viewing all the entries."
